Some sample responses:
Grazing usually provides low cost feed, but I dont think the meat quality and taste is as good as cornfed beef.
Cows need to have some fat in the meat for the flavor. I can get cattle from birth to slaughter a lot quicker by feeding grain.
Grass fed is defiantly on the rise. I expect it will continue as long as consumers are educated on its health benefits.
Grazing is pretty popular around the area. It has definetely changed throughout my career. Many cattle farmers have went to grazing to reduce feed costs.
Grazing is not that common to see around us any more. Most farmers have focused on confiment operations with no grazing.
Thoughts about the quality of grass-fed animal products:
I feel that well managed grass fed animals are some of the best quality meat in the world.
I dont think the taste would be as good as cornfed.
Grass-fed animal products are terrible, everyone in this day and age wants corn fed beef.
There is nothing wrong with grass fed animals.

Local Farmer
I associate the words; fences, always needs supplement, perennials, grasses, cows.
Grazing is a small part of my operation. I have, on average, 50 cows. They graze on about 10 acres and I also supplement with grain feed as well as hay.
Grazing in not very common. There are several people that graze small acres like me and supplement with grain and hay. It has changed during my career as a farmer, grazing has definately decreased. I think the main reason that it has decreased is because it is so convenient to keep cattle close and grain feed, requires a lot less management.
I do not know any farmers that are exceptional graziers.
I have heard that there has been an increased demand for grass fed animal products. Im think this trend will continue slowly, but it has not, and I dont believe it will impact my farming practices.
I think that if the grass land that the animals is being fed on is high quality and is managed properly, the quality of the product is exceptional.

farmer
I associate the word grazing with livestock, pasture, and manual labor.
I currently do no have any grazing lovestock on my farm.
Most of the peolpe who graze around me either have sheep, goats, or feeder cows. The rest of the peolpe either raise dairy cows, or steers on a feed lot.
A local farmer mentioned something about the demand and need for more grass feed animals has gone up in the past 5 years.
I think that if the pastures are maintained and managed just like a regular soybean/corn farm, then the animals could have very high potential.

Not exectly, one of my brothers takes care of my mother's cattle, another brother bales the pastures, and I spray the pastures.
There has been a decline in the amount of grazed pasture in our community. Alot of small cattle farmers just got out of the business.
Well on my mothers farm we rotate pastures regularly and spray them as well.
I think that the trend for grass fed cattle will keep raising as more poeple want to eat heathy.
